Welcome to Loam & Light

Welcome — I’m Brad Powers.

Loam & Light is my Catholic writing and speaking home. It’s where I’m gathering devotionals, reflections, and book projects that aim to be steady, grounded, and quietly luminous — faith that holds up in ordinary life. It is also how you can contact me for speaking engagements and retreats.

A quick word about tone, because it matters: I’m not interested in hype, guilt, or culture-war energy. I’m interested in the slow work of grace — the kind that happens when we keep showing up, return to Scripture, and stay close to the sacramental life, especially the Eucharist.

Most of what you’ll see here is simple: short reflections meant to accompany your own reading of Scripture. Over time, this will also become the home base for the Encounter Without Intimidation books, some other books that I am working on and resources for talks and retreats that I give.
